Five Signs of Attraction
You see someone across the room that catches your attention. After initial eye contact, you wonder if he or she is actually interested in you. Being able to determine attraction is challenging. Sometimes, people respond in a way just to be nice, which can be taken as flirtation. On the other hand, some people are not good at flirting, which means their actions are taken as them simply being nice. In this article, we wanted to provide you with five specific signs to look for in determining if a person is attracted to you.
The first thing you need to consider is that there are different levels of attraction. For instance, a person may be attracted to you because you look nice while having no interest in getting to know you. Then, there is sexual attraction, which occurs when two people have chemistry. Of course, attraction in the form of two individuals wanting to meet and date is the type of attraction we are referring to in this article.
Typically, men are attracted to women who have a nice appearance. To the man, this means the woman cares about herself, is energetic, and capable of handling situations in life. For women, the attraction is initially on looks, which indicates success. However, women are not as visual as men are so they tend to go deeper, wanting to learn about the man’s finances, his goals, his career, etc. Regardless, the following are five signs of attraction that you should watch for.
- Eye Contact – Having someone gazing at you longer than a simple glance would probably mean that he or she is attracted to you. In this case, two people look directly at each other, sending a silent message. This can be done before even meeting or after several dates. With eye contact, you can say many things without as much as a spoken word.
- Grooming – Often, both men and women will groom or preen, showing they want to look their best to impress. You may find a woman touching up her lipstick while a man may smooth back his hair of straighten a tie. These subtle signs are important in that they mean interest has been peaked.
- Flirtation – Of course, one of the most obvious signs of attraction is downright flirtation. This might be done by winking, telling a funny story, or opening the space of communication to show that interest is there.
- Physical – In this case, a person may touch the arm or leg, or the body is gently pressed toward the other person. With flirtation generally comes sexual tension, which can enhance the overall interest. Physical action is a good sign that the person wants to know more.
- Encouragement – If you meet someone and that person lets you know where he or she will be the following night, then you might take that as an invitation. For example, if you met someone on a Friday night at a certain nightclub and they mention more than once that they will be back at that same nightclub the following night, that individual is hoping you will show up, a sure sign of attraction.
