How to Tell When a Girl is Flirting with You
You are sitting across from a woman and you think maybe, just maybe she is flirting with you, but you are not 100% sure, so you do not know what to do. If this scenario sounds familiar, you are not alone. Trying to determine when someone is simply being friendly versus flirting can be tough. Obviously, after you and a woman start dating, it is easy to flirt but until that time, it is used as a means of getting attention, two people letting each other know they are interested. Keep in mind that some women will flirt just for fun, meaning they are flirting for the sake of flirting and not that they are interested in anything more. No wonder a guy gets confused when it comes to meeting and dating women.
If the girl is currently a friend, you may notice her placing her hand on your arm or leg and leaving it there for a few seconds longer than that of a friend. Usually, a move such as this is exaggerated, showing you that she is in fact interested. You need to learn to pay attention to details such as this so you will realize when you are being flirted with by a friend.
Another challenge for men is that some women are naturally flirty – to everyone. For this, if you notice a woman who is friendly to everyone, nudging every guy at the table, flipping her hair around to everyone, then she is probably not just flirting with you. However, if she begins turning her attention primarily to you, then it could be that she has a genuine interest. For this, she would be trying to have a conversation with you, being cutesy.
Eye contact is a great indicator of flirtation. Usually, a prolonged look or even a quick look that is more of an upwards glance could be perceived as interest. You may even come across some women who show no fear in winking. Then, you want to consider body language. Interestingly, some women will actually begin to mimic your own body language as a way of flirting. In addition, you may notice her touching your leg or arm, crossing her legs while allowing her foot to touch you, and so on.
Keep in mind that some people will flirt simply as a way of having fun while enjoying a night out on the town. However, if you have been frequently a particular nightclub, bar, restaurant, or other establishment and flirtation with a certain woman is ongoing, then you have a good chance or getting a date. Usually, the duration of flirting will tell you a lot about the intentions of the woman, which then gives you a better understanding of your next move.
